I have known this very beautiful girl, Colleen, and her amazing family since she was 4 years old! Getting to do her makeup for her senior prom was so much fun yet bitter sweet. I can’t believe how quickly time flies and that she isn’t little anymore. I am so excited for what her future holds. Congrats on choosing USC, Colleen!

We ALWAYS have fun when we are together! Check out this cute video….
I have known this gorgeous girl, Taylor, for a very long time and I always enjoy spending time with her! This week, I got a frantic text letting me know that she got her brows waxed the day before and they had burned her skin above and below her brows along with the middle section. She was very upset that we weren’t going to be able to cover it. She called her dermatologist and got approval to be able to apply makeup. I also contacted the makers of the airbrush makeup I use, just to make sure. Things like this can be serious. You don’t want an infection to occur or any scaring. So, needless to say, we took it easy on her skin.
Here is her before and after! I have to say, dinair airbrush foundation is a miracle worker!

I love that I get to see this beautiful girl several times a year. She is ALWAYS up for something new! This time, for her senior prom, I gave her a soft cut crease with glitter liner and a bold red lip! Isn’t she just gorgeous?

Thought that this was cool and wanted to share with my blog readers! Karrie Lykins – Makeup Artist just made the local paper discussing how long products last and how to keep items clean and bacteria free. For those of you who know me, you know that I’m a stickler for keeping things clean. As a makeup artist, you need to be but I’ve been that way long before I became one.
I love this time of year when prom and dances roll around. It gives me a chance to be extra creative with colors, glitter, cut creases and trends! I recently purchased some items from Urban Decay to get ready for the upcoming season. GLITTER!!!
I chose the Urban Decay Heavy Metal glitter eyeliner because of the versatility of the product. I can line cut creases with it, use it as liner, use it over any eye product and even use it all over the eye…. think of a glitter smokey-eye! It is long lasting and comes in some great colors. Colors pictured: Midnight Cowboy and ACDC.
I always tell my prom clients that their makeup will not look like anyone else’s. I try to use different colors and techniques with each client so they are unique and fun products like this are key.
For the foundation…..
I chose to purchase the Naked Skin foundation because, frankly, I’m getting tired of my old stand by and wanted to try something new. I love this foundation because it has a medium coverage (where your natural skin still comes through), demi matte with light reflecting properties and doesn’t feel like you are wearing makeup. I feel like my skin can breathe! What would make this product even better? Sunscreen. But, I will add that to my morning skincare routine. Moms…. this is a great foundation for you! Great color choices and very easy to use.
The beautiful bride to be, Chelsea, came to me for a trial run for her bridal makeup. These trials are wonderful because this is where we get to know each other. It is also where I learn what you would like your makeup to look like on the big day, play with color and ideas and create a final look. Then on your wedding day, let me pamper you knowing that everything will be exactly the way you want it.

It means so much to me when moms trust me to teach their daughters on how to correctly apply makeup. There are so many youtubers out there with crazy contouring, instagram brows and highlight galore. They are fun to watch but I’m not seeing that kind of makeup on the cover of fashion magazines, on the runway or on the red carpet. More time than not, you will see a more “natural” or fresh look.
I love to share my tricks of the trade on how to do a quick day look, then a look with more detail and finally, a going out look. At a makeup lesson, I teach a few techniques that my client wants to learn while giving them hands on training. It is so much fun and all my clients are loving the lessons without the pressure of buying product at a counter or boutique.
Morgan wanted to learn how to achieve a natural look without covering up her freckles (which I just love) and work on a few eye techniques. We used some of her own products as well as played with some of mine as well. She was a fast learner and was happy with her hands on experience. Here is this beautiful girl’s final look.
